Super Bowl vs the Oscars

Updated: Feb 26, 2021

Over 100 million people watch the Super Bowl every year. In 2021, an amazing 41.6% of U.S. households tuned in to what many think of as the ultimate presentation. There are 15 minutes in an NFL football quarter, but the average Super Bowl game lasts about three hours and 39 minutes including a 12-minute half-time show, turnovers, timeouts and all the hoo ha. But the production offers a lot of entertainment. Even the Super Bowl's commercials are extra-special. This one was my favorite. Contrast the super successful Super Bowl with the beleaguered Oscars. The 2019 Academy Awards show was the longest ever at 4 hours and 23 minutes. Only 23.6 million people watched the Oscars last year, an all-time low for a show that attracts fewer viewers each year. And its commercials are nothing special.

(I got to meet Kim Peek, the autistic savant who was the inspiration for The Rainman movie, starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman. Kim let me pose with his Oscar statuette. It was heavy!)

Here's the point If your presentation is amazing, people will sit for it. They will enjoy it and they will rave about it to others. It's all about how you manage your time and whether or not you can deliver. Let me know how I can help. #PresentLikeAPro #SpeakerTraining
